New Delhi: India and Israel have signed a landmark MoU on defence cooperation, aimed at providing a unified vision and policy framework to further strengthen their longstanding strategic partnership.
The agreement was inked during the 17th meeting of the joint working group (JWG) on defence cooperation, co-chaired by India’s defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and the director general of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, Maj Gen (Res) Amir Baram, in Tel Aviv.
The MoU is designed to enhance collaboration in multiple domains, including strategic dialogues, military training, defence-industrial partnership, and advanced technological capabilities. Key focus areas identified under the agreement include science and technology, research and development, technological innovation, AI and cyber security.
The pact also emphasizes the sharing of cutting-edge defence technologies, while promoting co-development and co-production initiatives between the two nations.
During the meeting, both delegations reviewed the progress of ongoing defence cooperation projects and expressed satisfaction with the mutual benefits achieved through their partnership. They also explored new opportunities for collaboration in emerging defence technologies and measures to boost operational readiness.
The discussions further addressed shared security challenges, particularly the menace of terrorism, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to combating it through joint efforts and intelligence sharing.
India and Israel share a long-standing defence relationship built on mutual trust, strategic alignment, and shared security interests. Israel remains one of India’s key defence suppliers, contributing significantly to the country’s technological and operational capabilities.
The latest MoU marks another milestone in the deepening India-Israel defence partnership, reinforcing their joint resolve to enhance strategic cooperation and build resilient, future-ready defence capabilities.
