New Delhi: Counting of votes for the Bihar assembly elections will begin at 8AM on November 14, with arrangements made across all 243 constituencies. A total of 4,372 counting tables have been set up, each staffed with a counting supervisor, assistant and micro-observer. Over 18,000 counting agents, appointed by the candidates, will oversee the process.
As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), counting will begin with postal ballots at 8AM, followed by EVM counting from 8:30 AM. Postal ballot counting will be completed before the penultimate round of EVM counting. The process will be supervised by 243 returning officers (ROs) and 243 counting observers in the presence of the candidates or their agents.
During the EVM counting, control units will be produced round-wise, and seals and serial numbers will be verified against Form 17C (Part I). In the event of any mismatch, VVPAT slips from that polling station will be mandatorily counted. Additionally, after EVM counting concludes, five polling stations per constituency will be randomly selected for VVPAT verification.
The ECI reported a record voter turnout of 67.13%, the highest since 1951, and noted that the 2025 elections saw zero repolls across the state. No repoll requests were received from any of the 2,616 candidates or 12 recognised political parties, and there were no appeals filed during the scrutiny of irregularities across all 38 districts.
The results will be compiled and published round-wise and constituency-wise by the respective returning officers on the official ECI results portal — https://results.eci.gov.in. The Commission has advised the public, media and digital platforms to rely only on official updates from this portal for verified results.
