The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned a recent maritime attack targeting a commercial oil tanker off the coast of Oman, as authorities scramble to locate a missing Indian crew member. The Incident Involving MT Elgaia
The vessel targeted in the assault has been identified as the Panama-flagged oil tanker MT Elgaia. While the ship sustained the attack off the Omani coast, swift rescue efforts managed to secure the safety of the majority of those on board. A total of 13 Indian crew members were successfully rescued from the distressed tanker. However, amid the chaos and aftermath of the strike, one Indian seafarer remains unaccounted for, prompting urgent search and rescue missions.
